Matchytation

This Game was made in 8 weeks with 4 people I made 3D models and helped with design and creating the VR input system

This game was made using Unity, Blender and Substance painter. Our target audience were people from the ages of 18 to 35 who are stressed out easily. We made it during a time where a lot of students and people with new jobs were under a lot of stress and needed something to quickly relieve the stress in about 5 minutes. The game was made and tested for the PICO VR headset. It is a demo game and if we would have worked it out to a complete game we would make it possible to play on your phone, whereby you can put your phone in a cheap VR type holding device and use the game.

I created models like the Rabbit, the carrot, the cube, other models and also did world building. I Also did the post processing and updating and adapting free models from the Unity asset strore that we needed and could not make our selfs because or the time-frame. These were the ground texture and the grass and trees. I did all the modeling in blender and used Substance Painter for the texturing.

The rabbit I fist modeled and UV unwrapped in blender. Then I went to Substance Painter and added the textures by getting a real rabbit and UV projecting it onto the model, than I used masks and shading to cover up the UV cut lines. I also added more roughness so the model would not shine as much in the game. For the Carrot I also UV projected a picture on the model and than shaded, blended and painted it, to look more stylist in the way that would also fit with the other models. I did the worldbuilding for the project by making it look like a endless forest as much as the PICO VR could handle performance wise and also made it styled like a fantasy forest by using post processing.

We used virtual reality (VR), because from our research we had found that VR is used a lot with people who have anxiety attacks or are in general under a lot of stress. The PICO VR was in our opinion the best VR system for this, because it is a standalone VR device which means you don't need to setup anything and can just put in on your head and play. VR has the ability to pull you away from the real world and temporarily puts you in a virtually designed experience. We used that to give the user the emotion of relieve. In the Game you need to match animals with their related food, such as a rabbit with a carrot, bee with honey, etc. These will randomly appear in a big wire-frame cube that is spinning and you have laser pointers to grab and drag the objects to combine them together. We also added calm music and nature sounds to completely immerse you in the game quickly. The aim of the game is to relieve stress to we tested the game by adding score systems, time limits and also solely combining the objects. Out of these tests resulted that getting rid of all the scores and time limits it actually relieved more stress, because you could loose track of time. We also recommended that you set a timer in real life and than put on the headset if you would use it for instance when you are at work or in class.
